Who We Are:
The heart of Cookeville First Baptist Church is to bring the generations together for worship, discipleship, and service to the Lord. We believe God has placed us in the heart of Cookeville to serve the people of this amazing community and reach them for the Kingdom of God! We are an intergenerational church that loves the next generation! We hope that you will join us in the mission God has given us!
What We Believe:
In short, we believe that the Bible is God’s inspired and authoritative Word to humanity. We believe in God, Three-in-One, the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, the Creator of all. We believe in Jesus, who died for our sins, and who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing. We believe in the Holy Spirit who guides us to spiritual maturity. We believe in Christ’s return to claim His church for eternal glory. You can find a more exhaustive list of beliefs here:
Worship Services:
We hold two identical worship services at 8:00am and 10:45am. Our worship is a blend of music styles to encourage the generations to come together in worship. We invite you to join us for a worship service. This is where you can learn the most about who we are and what we are about!
Next Generation Ministries:
Cookeville First Baptist has dynamic and engaging next generation ministries. These ministries include Kids, Students, and College Ministry. Through teaching times, retreats, camps, events, and ministry, we seek to teach each young person that God has entrusted to us biblical values and a fulfilled life in Christ. Check out the linked pages to find out more about each ministry!
Adult Ministries:
Whether you just started 'adulting' or you've been doing it for a long time, you have a place at Cookeville First Baptist. Our Men's and Women's ministries regularly get together for events and conferences. There are classes for co-ed and gender specific preferences. You can not only find a place but you can also find your people! Our Senior Adults are led by Pastor Bill Stone. He leads out in regular and exciting trips for ministry and fun!
Service:
The Bible is clear that believers are called to serve one another. We love serving! What to Expect:
When you visit on a Sunday Morning you will first come across our Connect team! They will be wearing red lanyards! You can go to any of these team members and they would be happy to help you find what you're looking for from the restroom to the sanctuary! In fact, Cookeville First Baptist is very friendly! You'll find kind faces all around that are excited to be worshipping alongside you! There is no dress code and no expectations. We are all just broken people coming together to worship a Holy God! In addition to friendly church members, you'll get to meet several of our staff floating around. We have a large team of pastoral staff, support staff, and interns that love serving you!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Here are some questions we regularly get that may help your first time visit easier!
Where should I park?
We are a downtown church so there is parking all around, just find your (parking) place! We have parking spots near the main entrance for guests and families with young children. You can also park in any lot adjacent to the church! If you can't find anything there, you can head to the big parking lot across Spring street.
Where do I go?
When you arrive, head to the covered entrance near the post office. From there, you can head up the stairs to the second floor and drop your kids off with our awesome kids ministry! Further into the second floor, you'll find our lobby where we have a welcome desk to help you find a small group. Right off the lobby is our Sanctuary where you can join us for worship!
What should I wear?
Cookeville First Baptist has a “come as you are” atmosphere. You will see some dressed up, some dressed casually. We have no expectations for attire.
Where do my kids go?
We have special activities for children of all ages, but we also believe family worship is important as you seek to disciple your kids! If you have a child birth-Kindergarten, their classes will meet on the second floor right as you enter the building. There are check in locations here for you to get your security tag and you'll be able to drop your kids with their teachers! If you have a child 1st grade and up, they will join you in the service. Don't worry about any noise they may make - we're just glad they're here!
What does the service look like?
Our Sunday services offer engaging live worship and Biblical teaching that is relevant to everyday life. Take a look through our message archives to get a feel for what a service is like. Each service lasts about an hour and fifteen minutes!
